Green light for Bedford Greenacre Independent School
We are pleased to announce that construction of Bedford Greenacre Independent School, our flagship all-through school, will begin this term.
After several setbacks, including delays caused by Covid, building on the new site of the Bedford Greenacre Independent School (BGI) will begin imminently, and due for completion in the 2024/25 academic year.
To be delivered in partnership with Pellikaan Construction Limited, the new school will be built within a 40-acre greenfield site to the north west of Bedford. Domestic in scale and sensitive to the surrounding rural setting, the new building will be split into four main zones where the youngest pupils will be taught at one end of the building, progressing through the school towards the Sixth Form.
The plans for the new site are very exciting for our students and we are looking forward to having more playground and sports space around us for them to enjoy, together with modern classrooms that are environmentally friendlier.

Bedford Greenacre Independent School was formed in May 2021 from the merger of Rushmoor and St Andrew’s Schools. It currently operates over two sites in Bedford. Working collaboratively with both schools, their Governors and Pellikaan Construction, the new Bedford Greenacre Independent School will become home to 680 pupils, that includes 80 Sixth Form places, accommodating all pupils from both schools as well as an additional 120 pupils.
The new school will sit within a 40-acre site and draw precedent on a ‘Forest School’ ethos and serve as an ecological connection to the neighbouring woodland.
At the heart of the school lies the atrium, designed to optimise the natural light, increase natural ventilation, and maximise the views - welcoming the outside world in.
We’re thrilled to mark this milestone for Bedford Greenacre Independent School, and look forward to watching our design come to life as construction gets underway.
