StaplefordCommunity Pavilion
The Stapleford Community Pavilion project is one of six regeneration projects funded through the £21.1m Stapleford Towns Fund from the HM Government. This project involved demolishing a 50-year-old disused changing room facility and replacing it with a modern, two-storey building that will serve the local community.
The new, multi-use and energy efficient building will provide a central hub to bring together an array of sports and community uses - and offer opportunities for enhanced health and wellbeing provision as well as a dedicated space for community activities and young people. The building will also facilitate the local football club, Stapleford Town FC, and other sports clubs, wellbeing and community clubs, which already make use of the site for training and games. The project was brought together by GEDA Construction.

The new pavilion is designed with natural and sustainable materials and colours, making it a standout focal point for Stapleford. It blends harmoniously with its surroundings and promotes health and wellbeing, while robust, low-maintenance finishes allow for flexible use of the spaces. Sensible precautions and anti-vandalism measures have been successfully incorporated to address the risk of vandalism, particularly graffiti.
The Community Pavilion serves as a central hub for local community groups, welcoming people of all ages to meet, learn, play, and stay active. It hosts a variety of community activities, including fitness classes, yoga, dancing, club meetings, elections, educational events, and facility rentals. The space features a gym and a multi-use games area (MUGA).
The new youth centre offers a diverse range of social and recreational activities, along with post-16 learning opportunities. Additionally, Steven Gerrard has opened a football academy in partnership with Stapleford Town Football Club at the facility, supported by a £1.4 million pledge from The FA, Football Foundation, and Premier League for the construction of a new 3G pitch.
It gives kids the opportunity to run their education alongside sport and try to create more jobs in the area. Broxtowe council have given fantastic support, they were really passionate about creating something special and share the same idea about trying to keep kids at this age off the street, keep trying to further their education but also give them incredible facilities to keep improving as players."
