Lungfish Architects turns two
On Thursday 24 May, we celebrated our second anniversary with more than 100 clients, partners and staff at Nottingham Contemporary, reflecting on our achievements and looking to the future.
When we started out in April 2016 there was just the eight of us and now we’re a 17-strong team, with experience across a variety of sectors – from residential and retail to education and care. We’re incredibly proud of the work we’ve done in the education sector using offsite construction techniques for our innovative modular school designs. Meeting tight budgets, reducing programme lengths and avoiding the disruption of a school day on a live site is vital for our clients and our team endeavours to deliver these outcomes every time. And as the lead architect for Sunesis we’ve created a range of pre-designed, customisable schools that not only provide students and teachers with inspirational learning environments but are delivered in guaranteed timescales with minimum disruption.

Wates Group and our design team recently collaborated to deliver Bluecoat Academy Primary for Nottingham City Council and we’re now working together on the expansion of Murray Park Community School for Derby City Council.

As a subsidiary of Scape Group, we work on public sector projects procured through Scape Procure’s national and regional frameworks but as a company in our own right, we also have the freedom to work with private sector clients across the UK. In particular, we’re working closely with Morgan Sindall, with whom we’ve built a strong relationship over the years.

Our collaboration with Arc Partnership, the joint venture set up between Nottinghamshire County Council and Scape Group to deliver better outcomes for the community of Nottinghamshire, is developing into a unique working relationship.

The last two years have been a journey for all those involved and Mark Robinson, group chief executive of Scape Group, sums it up for us, “Lungfish has gone from strength to strength and has achieved great things in just two years. Having made an impact on the school places crisis through innovative modular design and offsite construction, the team is set to bring their specialism to sectors beyond education.”
As a practice, we’re looking forward to what the next two years has in store for us – #TeamLungfish is ready for our next adventure!
