The Greenhouse 02 concept was created with a vision to develop workspaces that promote healthier and more environmentally friendly communities.
As work habits change and people's expectations for their workplaces evolve, this project looked at how future office buildings can offer more flexibility, enhance wellbeing, and be sustainable, all while remaining appealing for businesses and ready for investment.

Lungfish Architects was commissioned to undertake an early-stage feasibility and visioning exercise, developing a concept that could establish a compelling business case for future investment and funding. The goal was to create a modern workplace that could support various businesses and adapt to changing needs, especially with the rise of flexible work arrangements.
In addition to making sure the project is commercially viable, it also aimed to be environmentally friendly. This means incorporating designs that reduce carbon emissions, promote a healthy work environment, and allow for adaptability over time. The design needed to appeal to potential tenants, meet sustainability goals, and ensure the project remains valuable while being ready for future changes in how people work.
Solution
Greenhouse 02 concept was created with a vision for the future, focusing on people, sustainability, and flexibility in its design. The building features a large, bright central atrium that lets in plenty of natural light. This design not only promotes visual connections among people inside but also fosters a lively environment that encourages teamwork, creativity, and overall employee health and happiness.
The building features flexible floor layouts that can easily adapt to support a variety of tenancy arrangements, allowing spaces to expand, contract or be subdivided as business requirements change. This flexibility helps ensure that the building remains useful and attractive in the long run, allowing it to meet changing workplace needs while also protecting its value over time.
The design of this project focuses on bringing nature indoors by using plants, natural materials, and connections to outdoor spaces. This approach helps create healthier and more enjoyable workplaces. From the beginning, we included strategies that minimise energy use, making the building more comfortable for people while also enhancing its overall performance.
Outcome
The Greenhouse 02 concept showed how it's possible to build office spaces that are good for the environment, support workers' wellbeing, and still make business sense in the long run, all within one unified plan.
Sustainability was embedded throughout the proposal through passive design measures, biophilic principles, and low-energy building systems aimed at reducing operational carbon while creating healthier places to work. The flexible design strategy helps it easily adapt to changing business needs over time. This approach not only extends the life of the building but also helps maintain its value in the long run.
Although developed as a concept proposal, Greenhouse 02 demonstrates Lungfish Architects' ability to translate strategic aspirations into commercially viable, investment-ready workplace solutions. This project offers a forward-thinking approach to office spaces, focusing on lasting benefits for the environment, society, and the economy. It aims to foster healthier and more resilient communities for everyone.
